A new beginning
In 2019 we decided to establish SifnosLiving by restoring the family business known as “NIKOS – Rooms to Let”, operating between 1985 and 2004. All three rooms had a full renovation and a complete face lift in style while equipped in all modern amenities.The refurbishment and decoration of the rooms was inspired by the history of the existing buildings, taking the beauty of simplicity and the principles of functionality and convenience into account.
We would be more than happy to welcome you in our beautiful establishment and help you experience those unique moments of relaxation and tranquility, inspired by Vathi itself.
1981
Our family heritage
It was in 1981, when Nikolaos Sklavainas, active as a seaman then, decided to createa complex of rooms at the exact location of his father’s pottery workshop.
The premises, where currently SifnosLiving operates, used to be a family business known as “NIKOS” Rooms to Let that operated from 1985 until 2004. During the first decade, when the access to Vathi was only possible by sea, the needs of the rooms were covered by oil lamps and an electricity generator, which functioned at certain times of the day.
I’ve been visiting Sifnos since I was 6 months old, the time where there was no road connecting Vathi with the rest of the villages on the island. The time electricity and the “luxuries” derived from it were not available. A lot of things have changed over the years since that time, but a lot have remained the same. The kindness of the people is one of them, along with their overwhelming hospitality, the mesmerizing scent of jasmine on the island’s spotless picturesque alleys, the dense shade of the tamarisk trees at the beach, the various fairs with the traditional well prepared food…..

It was back in the summer of the year 2000 when I first visited Sifnos and I instantly fell in love with the island’s overwhelming allure. From that moment on, every time I visit Sifnos, I feel as captivated as I was during my first visit.
